Welcome to the Psychology, Counselling and Social Work Clinics

The Clinics offer a range of psychology, counselling and social work services to the community free of charge.

In addition to our telehealth services delivered in regional, remote and outer metropolitan areas, we have two onsite clinic locations. The Sydney ACAP Clinic is located in the Sydney CBD, across from Hyde Park and close to the Museum train station. The Melbourne ACAP Clinic is located in the Melbourne CBD, in Bourke St Melbourne, close to Bourke Street Mall tram stop. We also provide face to face services on site at a range of other ACAP locations which can include Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Byron Bay, depending upon availability.

Our services are informed by current research and adhere to ethical and professional standards to ensure quality services.

The Psychology Clinic is staffed by provisionally registered psychologists or registered psychologists who have completed their undergraduate training in psychology. All provisionally and fully registered psychologists in the clinic are supervised by qualified and experienced endorsed psychologists. Counselling and Social Work Clinics are staffed by students in their final stage of studying a Bachelor, Masters degree or Post Graduate Diploma (counselling only) in social work or counselling. All students working in the Clinics are closely supervised by qualified and experienced senior practitioners in social work, counselling, psychotherapy or psychology. In addition to individual, group and peer-based supervision, duty supervision is provided by a senior clinic manager at all times, that students are working with clients.

Video recording and clinical supervision are standard practices in the Clinics and are conducted with the clients’ knowledge and consent.

For ACAP students wishing to access psychology or counselling services, please visit Student Counselling Support.

Please note: We are not a walk-in clinic and not equipped for crises or emergency care. Referrals should be made by email ([email protected]) or web contact form.

about the clinic

ACAP has been educating counsellors, social workers and psychologists for over 30 years. Our School of Psychological Sciences was established in 2009, and three years later, the ACAP Psychology Clinic was established. It exists as part of the School of Psychological Sciences.

ACAP offers psychology qualifications recognised by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and the Psychology Board of Australia, including the Master of Professional Psychology and the Master of Psychology (Clinical).

Students of these programs are registered and provisionally registered psychologists completing postgraduate qualifications in Psychology. They staff the Sydney ACAP Clinic under qualified and experienced senior psychologists.

The College also offers qualifications in social work which are recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers (Bachelor and Master of Social Work) as well as counselling qualifications recognised by the Australian Counselling Association and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (Bachelor; Master and Post Graduate Diploma).
