Workload
Managing your study workload, along with work, family and other commitments can be done with the right planning. Feedback from students has shown that the workload is manageable if you utilise all of the resources available to you and manage your time effectively.
Effectively managing your study workload
The support options available to you are:
- Your lecturers and tutors are available to help you with any problems you may encounter throughout your subjects and degree.
- Academic Workshops & Webinars are provided by Student Learning Support and available to view online. At these workshops you’ll learn important study skills such as essay writing, source acknowledgement and writing reference lists.
Term workload
No matter the mode of study, you will be enrolled in a 12 week term and your learning will be structured around these 12 weeks. Typically there are 2-4 pieces of assessment due across the term.

VET Diploma Programs
For each subject we recommend 10-12 hours of study per week. One 3 hour class (on-campus students), or 3-4 hours of self-directed learning and interaction with your educator and fellow students (online delivery students), and a 5-6 hours per week of self-study, assessment preparation, general research and reading.
Bachelor and Graduate Diploma Programs
For each unit we recommend an average of 7.5 hours of study per week. One 3 hour class (on-campus students), or 3 hours of self directed learning and interaction with your educator and fellow students (online delivery students), AND a minimum of 4.5 hours per week of self-study, assessment preparation, general research and reading.
Master Programs
For each unit we recommend an average of 13 hours of study per week. One 3 hour class (on-campus students), or 3 hours of self directed learning and interaction with your educator and fellow students (online delivery students), AND a minimum of 10 hours per week of self-study, assessment preparation, general research and reading.
