1. Research Our Courses
Our number one tip for preparing for Open Day is to ensure you’ve had a look through our course options. We have a range of professionally accredited certificates, diplomas and degrees on offer across our disciplines, which include Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Criminology, Law, and our MBA program.
While you don’t need to have your ideal course picked out when you attend Open Day, we recommend having a rough idea of which study areas interest you the most and how much time you’re able to commit to earning a qualification (for example, a diploma or certificate can be completed within a year, whereas a bachelor’s degree will require a commitment of three years or more).

2. Write Down Your Questions
Choosing what, when and where to study is a big decision, so it’s natural that you’d have a long list of questions that need to be answered.
Your list might include questions about:
- Course structure, assessments and projects
- Professional work placements
- Student support services
- Scholarship opportunities
- Extracurricular activities at your local campus
- Admissions criteria, including our application process and important dates.
At Open Day, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to our expert Course Advisors who can answer any questions you might have about which course is right for you, the delivery modes we offer, the options available for paying your tuition fees, and more.
You’ll also have the chance to chat to current students, alumni and teaching staff. We recommend picking their brains about all things ACAP – what it’s like to study with us, what the course content and projects are like within your ideal study program, and potential career pathways available after graduating.

3. Plan Ahead
Now that you have an idea of which courses interest you the most and you’re prepared with your list of questions, it’s time to plan your Open Day experience!
Here are some of the key things we recommend planning in advance to ensure you get the most out of your day:
Transport
It’s important to note that not all ACAP locations have parking on campus. Public transport such as trains, trams or buses may be your best option for getting to Open Day. Find out more information about each ACAP campus here to explore your transport options here.
Comfort is Key!
This may sound like a no-brainer, but we highly recommend dressing for comfort on Open Day! It’s a busy day with lots of walking and standing involved, so comfy shoes are a must-have. While we don’t have a strict dress code, consider wearing clothes that are neat yet casual – avoid the trackpants or business suits, and stick to an outfit that you feel confident and comfortable in.
Pack a Bag
Wondering what to bring for Open Day? Our tip is to bring a bag with a bottle of water and a notebook and pen (or your smartphone) so you have something at the ready to take down important notes during presentations.
Workshops and Campus Tours
With various workshops, campus tours and other exciting activities happening throughout the day, it’s a good idea to note the time and location of any particular events or activations that you don’t want to miss. Allow yourself time to move from one presentation to another and be sure to check out the delicious refreshments along the way!
